MISSING PERSON: A body has been found in the search for Giles Battye

A body has been located in the search for 47-year-old Giles Battye. 

The body of a man was located today, Wednesday, 7 December, in the Burgh Island area.

His death is not believed to be suspicious at this time and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

Formal identification is due to take place.

The family of Giles Battye, aged 47, who was last seen on Friday 2 December, has been made aware.


Giles has not been seen by family or friends since Friday 2 December.

Giles is described as white, 6ft 3ins tall, of slim build with balding fair hair and blue eyes. He is likely to be wearing a dark zip-up jacket and jeans.

He is thought to be driving his red VW van (pictured) with registration number GV52NCZ, which has a distinctive matt, black bonnet.

It is thought that Giles may have gone to the coast either in the south Devon or Cornwall area.

Anyone who has seen him or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact police by calling 999 quoting log number 0455 of 05/12/22.
