SHDC says it is "improving the energy efficiency of homes across the South Hams"

South Hams District Council says it is "helping residents to improve the energy efficiency their homes", one its "top priorities".

Along with partners South Dartmoor Community Energy, Dartmoor Energy and Correct Contract Services, the council says its is "helping future proof some of the most poorly performing energy rated properties across the district".

Barry Cohen, a Totnes resident, said: "I am absolutely delighted. The improvements will significantly reduce my carbon footprint and my energy bills. This scheme should be rolled out to many more households, particularly to those experiencing fuel poverty."

From solar panels, better insulation, greener heating improved ventilation and more, residents will lower their bills and have more control of their energy use.

Residents who are interested in retrofitting their home for a more comfy and efficient way of living can find out more at  www.southhams.gov.uk/hug2
