Totnes Fire Station Watch Manager Roger retires after nearly 32 years

Totnes Fire Station has said a "fond farewell" to their watch manager Roger after nearly 32 years. 

Totnes Fire Station's watch manager Roger has retired after 31 years, nine months and six days.

A spokesperson for Totnes Fire Station said: "In that time he has ridden to incidents not just in Totnes but all over Devon and Somerset that varied from easy incidents to very complex and arduous.

"We and a number of former serving firefighters joined him and his family on his last drill night for a presentation of gifts honouring his time in service.

"Along with his presentation his wife and family were thanked for their help in enabling him to continue his service for as long as he had. It isn't easy having a member of the family in the fire service! 

"He will be missed on station but is now enjoying a very well earned retirement.

"Thanks Roger!"
