If you want to enter the world of open swimming but don't know where to start - Coast to Coast Water Safety can help

Coast to Coast Water Safety is passionate about keeping people safe and sharing their passion for our beautiful environment.

Coast and Coast Water Safety, owned and run by Loïc and Kate Doison, both of whom have decades of experience in water safety and beach lifeguarding. With their knowledgeable and local team, they have been providing professionally led guided swims, event water safety and lifesaving courses around our beautiful coastline for five years.

Coast to Coast Water Safety

“We want to give people a better understanding of the sea”, Loïc explained, “We give people the training and the knowledge to better look after others and themselves.”

If you would like to develop your wild swimming skills and experience but would like a bit of structure and support, Coast to Coast Water Safety’s swim ventures are what you need.

They are relaxed and with small group sizes, making them personable and non-competitive. Their team will make you feel at ease in a supportive and inclusive environment.

You can choose your pace and location whether that be around the stunning Burgh Island or meandering down the River Avon finishing with the Bantham Swoosh. There are dates coming up in May, June, July and September - search ‘swim ventures’ in our events to get all the details.

“Most of our team are local", said Loïc, "with a depth of local knowledge, so not only can they point out the under-explored areas and secret places, but they can also tell you the best spots to get a drink or a meal when you’re finished!”

“We really get to explore and we have a variety of swim ventures that explore the South Hams coastline, including Burgh Island, Thurlestone Rock and the Avon river, some with hikes on parts of the South West coast path. It is fitness, but it is also an amazing way to explore this beautiful place!

“The swims are led by a swim guide and with qualified lifeguards, it is a very chilled experience, perfect for anyone who doesn’t have the confidence to do these kinds of swims by themselves or just want to explore with some local knowledge. They know that they have an experienced safety team with them making them feel safe and secure."

Join them in this first-ever course designed to progress you towards completing our iconic Burgh Island swim venture in eight weeks.

It’s been carefully crafted to build your sea swimming skills, develop your confidence in the open water and share this incredible experience with other like minded people.
