Melanie Deegan Wire Sculpture Workshop at The Brownston Gallery, Modbury on Monday, 2nd March from 10am - 4.30pm
A friendly, relaxed one-day workshop given by Melanie Deegan, a professional sculptor. Melanie has a studio in Somerset and her work is influenced by her love of animals, in particular horses, which is widely exhibited throughout the Uk and abroad.
In this workshop Melanie will help you create a small finished sculpture using wire, acrylic resin and mixed media. This accessible approach to sculpture is a great way to learn and because no previous experience is required it is suitable for all skill levels. The workshop will begin by looking at the design you would like to use as inspiration for your sculpture, this will be sketched in 3D using wire to create the armature or framework.
The piece will continue to be developed with additional wire, resin, materials and a plaster base if required. A range of colours can be added to the resin and it is possible to use almost any shade or a mix of colours. The sculpture subject can be figurative or abstract - something for inside or outdoors - perhaps a piece to hang on a wall, or something to put in a pot or flowerbed in the garden.
