Devon Air Ambulance is offering free CPR and defibrillator courses

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust is offering free CPR and defibrillator training courses in Totnes and Ivybridge.

The events are taking place at The Seven Stars, Totnes, on 18 May and Ivybridge Rugby Football Club, Ivybridge, on 9 June.

There will be four, one-and-a-half-hour sessions each day, but booking is essential.

A spokesperson for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust said: "Every day, defibrillators allow members of the public to become life savers when it is most unexpected.

"Our recent public survey revealed that only 35% of people were confident using one, but 76% of those who replied said they would be keen to take up local training.

"We want to help you to become more confident in using a defibrillator that is based in your local community by offering you the chance to boost your confidence with training delivered by our Specialist Paramedics in Critical Care.

"Cardiac arrests account for over a third of the incidents we attend. Your early intervention can really help to make a difference - you could save a life.

"We are rolling out a series of CPR and defibrillator training events which will include a demonstration of how to give effective CPR and how to use a defibrillator, as well as a chance to have some valuable Q&A time with our crew.

"It is our intention that everyone we meet during our Community Cardiac days will feel that they have gained a little more confidence to step in and help with a cardiac incident and that we will have helped to inform you of the things you were unsure about beforehand."

There are limited spaces available at each session, so book your free place HERE today.

If you can't make these sessions, register your interest in future CPR and defibrillator training events.
