Salcombe RNLI called out seven times in a week
Salcombe RNLI has been called out seven times in a week.
The volunteer crews at Salcombe RNLI have been called out seven times in a week, to various jobs including vessels with no steering and engine failure.
On Monday, 16 August, the All Weather Lifeboat ALB launched to assist a "eight-and-a-half tonne gaff cutter with no steering reported to be about 0.5 nautical miles off Soar Mill Cove".
Earlier that morning, the ALB launched to assist a 33 foot vessel four nautical miles south of Start Point.
On Sunday, 15 August, the Inshore Lifeboat ILB was launched to a PanPan call to a yacht in difficulties. A PanPan call is a "standard urgency signal that someone aboard a boat, ship, aircraft, or other vehicle uses to declare that they have a situation that is urgent, but for the time being, does not pose an immediate danger to anyone's life or to the vessel itself."
On Saturday, 14 August, the ALB launched to a fishing vessel with steering failure six nautical miles south east of Salcombe.
On Friday, 13 August, the ALB launched to a 14 metre yacht with a fouled propeller off Bolt Head.
