Totnes Police issue after reports of "dog related crimes" in the area

Totnes Police have issued advice for responsible dog ownership after recent “dog related crimes”.

Totnes Police posted “a quick reminder out about being a responsible dog owner” on their social media.

The post read: “If you are a dog owner you have a legal responsibility to keep them under control in all circumstances. Whether this be around livestock, people and/or other dogs.

“Your dog must not be out of control. If this means walking your dog on a lead and/or muzzled then you must take those steps.

“Remember to also be respectful towards dog owners who keep their dogs on the lead and keep your off lead dogs away regardless of how friendly your dog is.

“We have recently issued a Dog Control Order for a dog causing injury to another dog and have another one due to be issued soon.

“Also a reminder to ensure your dogs microchip details are up to date, should they go missing this makes it easier to reunite your four-legged friends with you.

“We all adore our dogs so please be responsible.”
