Flood warning for Kingsbridge and Avon Estuaries
A flood warning has been given for the morning of Friday February 18 for South Devon coast at the Kingsbridge and Avon estuaries.
Gov.uk states;
"Flooding is expected for the Kingsbridge and Avon Estuaries over the high tide on Friday morning. High water at Plymouth is at 6.45am, times of high water will vary along the coast. Force 9 south westerly winds and offshore wave heights of over 4.5m are forecast. Particular areas of concern include Kingsbridge Quayside. Conditions may apply two hours either side of the high tide. Expect tides to be around 0.47m higher than predicted due to weather conditions. Large waves and spray are likely, so take care near coastal paths and promenades. This may cause localised standing water on roads near to the estuary. Do not drive through flood water or waves. Please be aware of the dangers caused by strong winds, particularly in exposed locations. Coastal conditions should ease for Saturday morning's high tide, however we are continuing to monitor the situation and will issue updates if the situation changes."
Areas at risk include; Low-lying parts of the Kingsbridge, Avon and Erme Estuaries including Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Frogmore, Southpool, Lower Batson, Tacketwood, Aveton Gifford and Orcheton.
It you're out and about tomorrow and see some flooding or storm damage please do take a pic. (as long as it's safe to do so) and email it in to
