Six fire engines attend Plympton fire

Six fire engines attended a fire in Plympton Erle after smoke and flames were spotted. 

Multiple calls were received reporting smoke and flames coming from a property in Plympton Erle at around 6.30am on Tuesday, 22 September. Fire engines attended from Plympton, Crownhill, Greenbank and Plymstock.

Two fire engines were initially mobilised but the incident then escalated to six fire engines, along with specialist appliances and supporting officers.  

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) said: "Building measuring approximately 9m x 9m consisting of two flats.  Fire was located in the top floor flat, the ground floor flat was not affected by smoke or fire but sustained water run off damage to internal walls.  

"Crews extinguished using six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, one covering jet, one triple extension ladder, small tools, two thermal imaging cameras and three gas monitors."

The incident was closed by DSFRS at 5.16pm.
