Three identified after fire at Dartmouth Rugby Club
NewDartmouth Police said they have "identified three people responsible" after reports of a fire at the Dartmouth Rugby Club pitch.
The police say they are "not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident" and warned about the dangers of starting fires.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The dangers of starting fires is an important conversation to have with your young people.
"On this occasion thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused to the rugby club scrum machines. This could have been much worse. The grass and surrounding trees are extremely dry at this time, and fire gets out of control very quickly.
"Not only are those responsible putting themselves at risk, but also the wider public, wildlife , and our brave firefighter colleagues who have to attend to put the fire out."
