A Royal Visit, Behind the Lens with Dan Coleman - Image Three Sixty

A personal account from Dan Coleman of Image Three Sixty about photographing an unforgettable Royal visit and celebrating inclusive boating.

We recently caught up with Dan from Image Three Sixty to talk about his recent commission - to photograph a Royal Visit to Torbay. Here is what he told us about the day:

I was truly honoured to be asked to serve as the official photographer for HRH The Princess Royal during her visit to the Wetwheels Foundation in Torbay on Wednesday 15th October. Having the chance to witness first hand the incredible work of Wetwheels, founded by Geoff Holt MBE, was deeply inspiring. Their fleet of eight specially adapted boats gives disabled and disadvantaged passengers the opportunity to enjoy life on the water - not just as guests, but as fully involved members of the crew.

The visit was made possible with the valuable support of the English Riviera BID Company, Ocean BMW and local restaurant Otto, whose involvement helped make the day such a success.

This assignment was unlike my usual commissions. While storytelling through visual content is something I do every day, this experience felt truly unique - filled with uplifting, powerful and emotional moments. I’m delighted with the resulting photographs, which really reflect the energy and impact of the day. It was a privilege to use my skills to document something so meaningful.

It was a tremendous honour to be chosen as the official photographer for the visit,. Capturing the joy and confidence of the participants, alongside the warmth and quiet strength of HRH The Princess Royal, Patron of Wetwheels Foundation, reminded me exactly why I love this profession.

I genuinely enjoyed recording the smiles, excitement and sense of freedom on show throughout the day. It was wonderful to see the Wetwheels mission in action and to witness the backing of local supporters like the English Riviera BID Company, Ocean BMW and Otto.

At Image Three Sixty, my goal is always to capture genuine moments and tell stories with heart and this was a perfect example of that. A truly unforgettable experience.
