Kingsbridge has made it to the national finals of the Britain In Bloom competition

Kingsbridge In Bloom has been chosen as one of only six national finalists of the 'Small Town' category of the Britain In Bloom competition. 

Kingsbridge is up against Stonehouse in Bloom, Gloucestershire; Croston in Bloom, Lancashire; Petworth in Bloom, West Sussex; Randalstown, Ulster and Hale Village, London. 

Kingsbridge In Bloom chair Graham Price, said: "We are honoured for Kingsbridge to be in the finals of the RHS Britain in Bloom 2022, representing the whole of the South West region against five of the very best towns in the UK.

"This year our main theme is to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee with some spectacular new displays and sustainable planting. We also initiated a plan to get the whole community hand knitting red, white and blue bunting to a free pattern which has been a massive success and is now on display in our shops, businesses and other areas throughout the town."

A spokesperson for Kingsbridge Town Council said: "Congratulations to Graham and the rest of his hard working team, you deserve it. The town looks fabulous, thank you." 

The Royal Horticultural Society, which runs the awards, released the finalists on its website, with a spokesperson saying: "Following a two-year hiatus, we’re thrilled to see Britain in Bloom UK Finals return for 2022, with 46 community gardening groups looking to wow judges this summer. This year, finalists will be judged according to strengthened environmental criteria that will help them to consider sustainability issues and implement planet-friendly gardening techniques within their community projects."

Kay Clark, RHS Community Development Manager, said: “We’re excited that Britain in Bloom UK Finals will return in full force this year, featuring some new competitors, new audiences and underpinned by a new found admiration for all that our public green spaces provide and mean to us.”

The winners of the RHS Britain In Bloom competition will be announced in the autumn.
