Murder investigation is launched in Plympton
Police have launched a murder investigation following a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Plympton.
UPDATE: A warrant of further detention has been granted by Plymouth Magistrates’ Court, allowing officers to detain the suspect in custody for a further 36 hours.
At this time, a 36-year-old man from Plymouth remains in police custody on suspicion of murder.
Following further enquiries today, officers have, this afternoon, Thursday, 23 March, arrested a 42-year-old woman from Plymouth on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She has been taken into police custody.
A cordon remains in place at Leigham Manor Drive and officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson said: “As a result of enquiries made this morning, a second arrest has been made in relation to this investigation. Two people remain in police custody at this time.
“I continue to ask anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage, doorbell or CCTV footage and any relevant information, to contact police and report anything that may assist us.”

Police were called at around 8.55pm on Tuesday night, 21 March, to Leigham Manor Drive, Leigham, Plympton, following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a local man in his 40s, was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
It was reported that the vehicle left the scene and was located in the Marsh Mills retail park at a short time later. The vehicle has been seized by officers.
A 36-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested last night on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson said: “Following enquiries last night, one man remains in police custody and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to this matter.
“Cordons remain in place today whilst our enquiries are ongoing, and members of the public will see an increased police presence in the area today.
“I would ask that anyone who has any information, relevant dash cam or CCTV footage which may assist our investigation, to report it to us."
