The A379 will be closed between Aveton Gifford and Modbury for 12 days.

The A379 road will be closed between Aveton Gifford and Modbury for 12 days from 24 April to 5 May for "pole replacement, overhead and underground cabling, tree cutting, and excavation to clear blockages" by BT Openreach.

Due to the closure of a main A-road, the official diversion is via Dartington and Totnes, although many people will know a shorter route through the lanes - but be aware that they will obviously be much busier during the road closure.

Poor Signage
(Updated: March 06, 2025)
The Diversion signs are few are far between and there are few prior warnings as you come along the rd towards it. Caused absolute chaos today with heavy lorries, farm vehicles and normal vehicles trying to use single track country lanes mostly because of poor signage!

Potholes
(Updated: March 06, 2025)
I had assumed the road closure was to resurface. Some very dangerous ruts and potholes along this road.
If they are not sorted while the road is closed then someone needs their ass kicked!!

Fix the potholes
(Updated: March 06, 2025)
How about fixing the multiple potholes between Aveton Gifford and Modbury while the road is closed? The westbound side is becoming dangerous about a mile before Bigbury Cross
