Fire crews from Ashburton and Buckfastleigh were called on Wednesday, 10 November, to a van fire outside Parkers Farm, Ashburton.

A spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Crew said: "On arrival the crews discovered the vehicle had now rolled down a slope and come to a stop at the top of the hill, the diesel tank then split sending a running fuel fire down the road which had to be dealt with as a priority.
"The fire was quickly extinguished but an amount of diesel and engine oil was found to be entering a local stream via the drain network so the officer in charge requested the service environmental protection unit, as well as having crews divert and filter the run off entering the drains."
