Local support hub for families is being launched - can you help?

A new support hub for new families is bring launched in Kingsbridge to create a "welcoming space" for support and resources.

Since the closure of Kingsbridge’s children’s centre in 2016, parents in our community have struggled without easy access to consistent support, now The MotherBorn Collective is hoping to change that.

Steph Pope, of Nurtured By You, is one of the founding members and explained the background behind the MotherBorn Collective: "Shockingly, one in five new mums and one in 10 new dads experience mental health challenges during pregnancy and in the first year after the birth of their baby, and only one percent of women are breastfeeding at six months with lack of support often cited as a reason why many stopped before they really wanted to.

"Yet, across the UK, over 1,000 children’s centres have closed, leaving families feeling isolated and without vital resources, particularly those living in rural locations such as ours.

"The MotherBorn Collective CIC is on a mission to change that! We’re creating a welcoming space where parents can access infant feeding support, peer guidance, equipment hire, nearly new maternity, nursing and baby clothing, and more. A space where every expectant and new parent feels seen, heard, and appreciated ????

"With your help, we can build a nurturing, inclusive hub for every young family in Kingsbridge and the surrounding area.

"Please support our crowdfunder today - let’s come together and make a difference for our community’s parents and their little ones. Donate here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/motherborn."
