Anrán Christmas Fest will raise money for Totnes Caring
ANRÁN Christmas Fest 2022 opens its doors to host 35 local artisans in their Glass House, creating a Christmas craft market with a difference.
Held on 19 and 20 November, a two-day event will host 35 hand-picked stalls to celebrate small artisan businesses in a unique events space.
Following the success of Anrán Fest, and two previous Christmas craft markets pre-covid, Anrán Christmas Fest returns this winter.
Mike Jowett and Edwin Ho of ANRÁN are opening their doors and donating the incredible venue to showcase local artisans and bringing people, families and the community together at this special time of year.
Anrán Christmas Fest has been curated by The Anrán Potters, three potters who share the pottery studio at Anrán, and who met while learning to throw at Studio 45 in Dartington.
Victoria Tar from Seascape Ceramics creates ceramics inspired by the sea, surfing and all thing coastal. She also designs interiors, and her homewares creations are inspired by this.
Jess Heard from Jess Heard Ceramics creates work is inspired by her love of playing with clay and exploring what shapes can be made by transforming a simple ball of clay.
Lucy Bell from Lucy Bell Ceramics predominantly makes beautiful functional ware with a particular love all things tea related. For more sculptural work Lucy uses the alternative firing method called barrel firing.
Excited by the opportunity to run a craft fair at their studio base, with the kind donation of the Glass House and The Hut by Mike and Edwin, and following two years of restrictions, Jess, Lucy and Victoria have collaborated to create a unique event for charity, by moulding their own experiences of selling at markets.
The Anrán Potters said: “This year is really about celebrating Christmas in these uncertain times and supporting small business and shopping local. And to bring some Christmas joy. We want to gather people together, to not only have a great time but also to do some good for the less fortunate.
"We have also not only tried to make the event interesting but also sufficiently different to other craft markets out there.
The Anrán Potters added that they "felt it was important to give back to the community" and therefore "appropriate to support a local charity" and have chosen Totnes Caring "who over the years have given tens of thousands of people the support, skills, tools, and confidence to lead independent and fulfilling lives", as well as supporting Cancer Research UK.
