Dartmouth artist is raffling artwork in aid of the Woodland Trust

A Dartmouth artist is raffling off some of his artwork inspired by the Avon Valley Woods in aid of the Woodland Trust.

Stewart Taylor is raffling off the prints that were made after he went on a Woodland Trust tour of Avon Valley Woods in May.

Stewart explained: “The tour was super informative and deeply optimistic in its ambitions - I did four of the Trees I saw there (I always work from photos downloaded to my laptop!), which are part of my ongoing Tree Portraits series which now consists of over 300 pieces of art.

“This originated in 2020 when I still lived in East London, and was inspired by my local pollarded street trees; the series now includes two commissions from the USA and many local, landmark trees near me in Dartmouth.”

The Fundraiser for Woodland Trust is run on JustGiving.com - donors donated £5 per entry to have a chance to win the four prints that Stewart has put up for grabs.

The draw is open until Sunday, 11 December, and the winner will be picked at random, using wheelofnames.com, on Monday, 12 December.

Stewart is not just about recreating the beauty of nature in his artwork, he also set up a rewilding project close to his house in 2019, after himself and his partner bought a plot of land and took part in a number of rewilding workshops.

“Avon Valley Woods are where we started our work 50 years ago to protect woods and trees and the wildlife that they support. We couldn't do it without people like him and his support is helping us to ensure that these words continue to thrive for many years into the future.”

Stewart has recently returned from Finland, where he attended the opening of the 16th Graphica Creativa Print Trienniale, in which he is exhibiting; and his fifth appearance in a row at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
