Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas is "keen to welcome new members" to their upcoming AGM.

The organising committee of Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas are due to hold their AGM on Monday.

The current committee have been running the event since 2015 and are keen to welcome new volunteers to help make the event a success when it takes place on 2 December this year.

Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas kick starts the fesKve season in Kingsbridge on the first Saturday of December by welcoming a street market on to Fore Street, giving Santa a place to visit children in preparation for the big day and showcasing local musicians.

Traders on Fore Street get involved too, in a day that sees the town filling with almost 5,000 visitors.

As the event has grown over the years the amount of work for setting up before and cleaning up after the day has also increased and this year the committee are looking for volunteers to work with them to deliver as smooth an event as possible.

From working to put in place the necessary parking restrictions the night before to moving barriers, litter picking and moving bins after the event more people power is needed.

Event chair, Tina Wyeth said “We’re a small team and as the event gets bigger we’re really keen to create a team of volunteers to allow us to do even more in years to come. The committee are a friendly bunch and are always happy to welcome new committee members too.”

Meetings of the organising committee take place once a month between February and September with the number of meetings in October and November increasing depending on need. An after-event meeting takes place in the week after the event takes place.

Volunteers would need to attend a meeting on the Monday before the event but can choose which hours to work.

The AGM takes place on Monday, 20 February, 2023 from 7.30pm at the Regal Club, Church Street, Kingsbridge.
