Kingsbridge Food Bank issues urgent appeal during cost of living crisis

Kingsbridge Food Bank has issued an urgent appeal as the cost of living crisis continues to bite.

The cost-of-living crisis is tough for all of us as we see prices for many essential goods, noticeably gas, electricity, food and fuel, increasing much faster than household incomes.

Kingsbridge Food Bank is currently supporting 147 households a week, which is 514 people, and providing 4,600 meals.

In an appeal released this week, a spokesperson for Kingsbridge Food Bank said: "In the last two weeks we have seen an increasing number of people struggling to pay for food and bills and turning to us for support. 24 new referrals in the last two weeks alone! Many referrals are for people who are in work.

"Kingsbridge Foodbank is run by our amazing team of volunteers utilising generous donations of food and money from our community. We receive no direct government funding. Sadly, we expect to see more and more people needing our help in the coming months due to the cost-of-living crisis.

"Our mission at Kingsbridge Foodbank this winter is to help those who need our support to keep warm, to keep well and to keep fed. We are desperately trying to raise funds that will enable us to help people through the difficult winter months ahead.

"Please help us to help our local community by joining our growing band of supporters. Set up a standing order today. With your help we can support people through the winter and beyond."

To set up a standing order you need the following details:
Account Name: Kingsbridge Area Foodbank
Bank: Lloyds Bank
Account No. 17928860
Sort Code: 77-09-24
If you are a UK tax payer, please complete a Gift Aid form so that the food bank can claim a further 25 per cent of your donation value from HMRC. Link for Gift Aid form: www.kingsbridgefoodbank.org.uk/gift-aid

The spokesperson added: "Kingsbridge Foodbank needs your ongoing support to help those in need. Whatever you can donate is much appreciated; every tin, every penny helps us to help others in need of our support to keep warm, well and fed this winter.

"Thank you on behalf of the Trustees at Kingsbridge Foodbank!"
