Lifeboat called to upturned vessel
Salcombe RNLI launched their all-weather lifeboat on Sunday, searching for an upturned rescue vessel thirty miles out to sea.
Salcombe RNLI launched The Baltic Exchange III at around midday on Sunday, 24 July, to reports of an upturned orange rescue vessel around 30 miles out in mid-channel.
En route to the scene, the crew received reports from the rescue aircraft that they had located the vessel "but with no signs of life".
A video of the lifeboat leaving for the shout has been shared on the Salcombe RNLI Facebook page:
A spokesperson for Salcombe RNLI said: "Once on scene and working with HM Coastguard, air support and the Torbay Lifeboat, a search for survivors following well practised search patterns began.
"Unfortunately, after several hours of searching and with nothing being found, the Coastguard stopped the search."
Salcombe Lifeboat finally arrived back at the station at 5.30pm, after six hours at sea.
