South Hams communities are starting to gear up for the festive period.

Kingsbridge Town Council has announced their Christmas Tree arrived and will be decorated on Wednesday, 22 November, with thanks to Palladium Building Supplies and Greenspace.

In Totnes, the lights have gone up on the East Gate, with more being installed in the trees on The Plains, in the Shady Garden and The Rotherfold, as well as on the Civic Hall and Market Square and the Welcome to Totnes sign.

Cllr Emily Price, Mayor of Totnes said: “Despite the financial and logistical challenges, councillors all agreed that having Christmas lights to welcome local people and visitors is very important for the town. We’re committed to supporting all our businesses to thrive and making the town feel festive and fun is vital for this.”

The Town Council will be switching on the lights on Tuesday, 28 November, with a special, free, family-friendly community event in the Market Square and Civic Hall from 3pm-6pm (the lights on the Market Square Christmas Tree will be officially turned on at 5.30pm).

In Dartmouth, the town council and the Dartmouth Rotary Club are turning on the lights on the Christmas Lights in Royal Avenue Gardens with late night shopping, mulled wine and Christmas Carols.
