Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas AGM will take place on Monday - if you think you can help, find out what can you do.

The organising committee for Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas will be holding their Annual General Meeting this April, and they’re keen to welcome new volunteers on board to help bring this much-loved festive event to life on Saturday, 6 December 2025.

Since 2015, the current committee has been behind the successful running of this popular community celebration, which officially kicks off the Christmas season in Kingsbridge.

Each year, Fore Street is transformed into a bustling festive market, Santa pays a special visit to meet local children, and the increasingly popular synthetic ice rink returns to the Town Square. Local traders also get involved, creating a wonderful atmosphere that draws nearly 5,000 visitors to the town.

As the event has grown in popularity, so too has the behind-the-scenes workload. This year, the committee is seeking additional volunteers to assist with both the preparation and clean-up, helping to ensure the day runs as smoothly as possible.

Tasks include implementing parking restrictions the evening before, setting up barriers, managing waste and litter picking after the event.

Committee chair Tina Wyeth said: “After last year’s unfortunate cancellation due to poor weather, we’re really looking forward to getting to work on making this year’s event a huge success. We’re a small but friendly team, and we’d love to welcome more volunteers and potential committee members to join us. More hands mean we can do even more in the years to come.”

Committee meetings are held monthly from February to September, with additional meetings scheduled as needed in October and November. A follow-up meeting also takes place shortly after the event. While volunteers aren’t expected to attend every meeting, those helping on the day will be asked to join a briefing on the Monday beforehand, with flexible shifts available on the event day itself.

The AGM will be held on Monday, 7 April 2025, at 7pm at The Creeks End Inn, Squares Quay, Kingsbridge. All are welcome to attend.
