The Cottage Hotel Wins People’s Choice Best Hospitality Venue at 2025 Food Drink Devon Awards

Last night, at the prestigious 2025 Food Drink Devon Awards, The Cottage Hotel was honoured with the People’s Choice Best Hospitality Venue Award - and it’s all thanks to members of the public!

For the first time in the event’s history, this award was decided not by a panel of judges, but by the people — locals, visitors, friends, and the wider food and drink community. Thousands of votes were cast, and The Cottage Hotel in Hope Cove emerged as the inaugural winner of this very special accolade.

Voters described The Cottage Hotel as offering:

Exceptional service

Genuine, welcoming staff

A scenic location with breath taking views and sunsets

Tasty, freshly prepared and locally sourced food

A brilliant family-owned business

“We’re humbled and grateful beyond words,” said Neil Slade, General Manager of The Cottage Hotel. “As a family-owned hotel, we’ve always described ourselves as ‘quirky and traditional, providing guests with simple accommodation, good honest food, a friendly welcome and old-fashioned service, reminiscent of bygone times.’ To know that this resonates with so many of you means the world to us.”

On behalf of the Ireland family - owners Sarah, William, and Margaret - and the entire team (too many to name, but each one cherished), The Cottage Hotel extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted and supported them.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors back soon to our little slice of Devon heaven,” added Slade.
