Former Dartmouth Mayor Paul Darby has died. 

Dartmouth Town Council announced the news on social media, saying former Mayor Paul Darby "sadly passed away on Sunday 25th August 2024".

The spokesperson said: "Paul served on the council for many years and served as Mayor from 1997 to 1999. He was a local businessman who was well known and respected in the town by both locals and visitors alike. Our condolences go out to all his family."

Paul was involved in a car accident in May. 

Many people commented to share their condolences, with David Wells saying: "RIP Paul sincere condolences to all the family. Will be sadly missed within the town" and David Walker added: "A genuinely nice guy. Condolences to all the family."
