Kingsbridge Skatepark is asking residents about support for floodlighting

Kingsbridge Skatepark has been a "huge success" and the team are now asking for support to provide floodlighting and increase the time the park can be used through the winter months. 

As the weather starts to get darker and colder, the time available for people to use the skatepark in Kingsbridge is getting more limited. 

The Kingsbridge Skatepark team have taken to social media to gauge the support for having floodlights installed at the site at the end of the Quay car park, under the Quayside Leisure Centre. 

They posted: "Since opening in March of this year the skatepark has been a huge success - we now want to make it even better! As the dark nights roll in less time is available to skate. We want to rectify that by raising funds for permanent lighting.

"Soon we will start a crowdfunder where you will be able to purchase Skatepark tees and hoods as well as the engraved bricks you see installed already.

"We welcome all the communities thoughts on the lights - they will shut off at 2130 hours (before the Sports centres lights go off) and will likely be motion sensitive. A lighting survey will be conducted to minimise light pollution and blend in with the current street lights positioned near the steps and the waters edge.

"We will use the warmest light colour deemed suitable for a sports facility."
