Parking in Ivybridge will be free in the lead up to Christmas

South Hams District Council is offering free parking at their Leonards Rd, Glanvilles Mill and Harford Road car parks on the three weekends leading up to Christmas.

The initiative is part of the council’s £9million investment to regenerate Ivybridge and hopes to support trade and footfall in the town. Parking will be offered at no cost all day on the weekends of 4 and 5 December, 11 and 12 December and 18 and 19 December 2021.

Cllr Hilary Bastone, South Hams District Council Executive Member for Commercial Strategy said: “Visiting Ivybridge is going to be even more convenient this Christmas thanks to these three weekends when parking in our car parks is free. I hope people will take the chance to visit the town or spend longer there enjoying all the shops, cafes and leisure facilities.

“We are committed to supporting businesses and people in Ivybridge. Our plans to invest £9million to reinvigorate the town are progressing and we continue to work closely with the Town Council and other stakeholders. We know that there will be some disruption in the town if these plans for construction go ahead but hope this festive offer will give local businesses old and new a boost to end 2021.”

Ivybridge Town Mayor, Cllr Sara Hladkij, added: “I am delighted that South Hams have supported Ivybridge Town Council’s request for the provision of free parking in their car parks at weekends in December for the lead up to Christmas. Ivybridge’s shops are thriving at the moment, with nearly every unit filled with interesting independent shops and services. We cannot wait to welcome visitors from across the South Hams to enjoy what we have to offer.”
