Quick thinking neighbours saves garage fire spreading

The speed of the emergency services being called to a fire in Kingsbridge has saved a garage fire spreading to the house.

Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, and Buckfastleigh fire crews attended a domestic house fire in Saffron Park, Kingsbridge.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Yesterday evening, three fire crews were sent to a domestic house fire in Saffron park, on arrival it was found that the fire was in the garage.

"Crews isolated the electric to property and also water supply due to a melted pipe and two crew wearing breathing apparatus attacked the fire another crew also wearing breathing apparatus checked the living area of property for any fire and smoke and ventilated.

"All persons and animals were safe.

"The garage was severely damaged by fire but contained in that area due to the quick actions of people calling the emergency services.

"The cause of the fire was accidental."
