Reminder: South Hams District Council's festive season waste and recycling dates

South Hams District Council has reminded people of the current waste and recycling collection dates around the festive season and the flurry of bank holidays.

Don't Forget!

  • SHDC will not recycle cards containing glitter or plastics, or any wrapping paper (except plain brown paper).
  • From Monday 13 December, all properties on the Devon Aligned Recycling Service, (also known as the kerbside sort collection service), will have an extra vehicle collecting just cardboard. The is because the kerbside sort Romaquip vehicles only have limited capacity on board for each waste material. At this time of year there is more cardboard presented. By providing an extra vehicle to support, all recycling will be cleared on your collection day. This will avoid affecting the standard collections and additional visits to the tip.
  • SHDC can only accept pieces of cardboard under 75cm long. Anything larger will need to be taken to the household waste recycling centre, as it won't fit on the vehicles.

You can find out more about the Christmas recycling, visit the South Hams District Council website HERE.
