Salcombe RNLI performed a training exercise involving injured crew members, mechanical failures and two yachts being towed.

If you spotted the crew on Wednesday evening launching both their All Weather Lifeboat and Inshore Lifeboat, they were performing a training exercise.

Salcombe RNLI launched both lifeboats on a regional "L2 exercise". A spokesperson said: "The planned exercise included two yachts acting as casualties, with injured crew members on board, suffering mechanical failure, which resulted in both yachts being towed back to the harbour, once the injured crew had been evacuated.

"These scenarios are essential for the training of the volunteer crew. Well done to all involved."
