Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue crews are still in attendance in Bolberry as seawater is pumped from Hope Cove to prevent the fire reigniting.

Fire crews have installed pumps in Inner Hope, near the old lifeboat station, to pump seawater up to Bolberry Down and prevent the fire from reigniting after it has raged for three days.

Devon County Council has reiterated the fire service' advice to stay away from the area at this time.

Hope Cove Lifeboat has been taken off service during this time as they cannot access the slipway while this takes place. A spokesperson for Hope Cove Lifeboat said: "Our colleagues from the RNLI are all aware so they’ll provide cover for us but they’re having to cover their own patch too so they’ll be busy. We'll be back on service as soon as possible - hopefully in a day or so."

"It’s an offshore wind today so whilst the water looks lovely and incredibly clear, the wind will push you out to sea. So please be careful out there. And as always wear a life jacket and take a means of communication with you, just in case…"
