In a corroboration between South hams Trek Challenges and Marvel Fitness, the Finding Freedom with Every Step team is a mixed group of individuals who are planning to complete the national Three Peaks Challenge.

The Three Peaks Challenge sees people attempt to climb the three biggest peaks in UK, Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike, within 24 hours.

The whole route is 26 miles total horizontal distance and 3,000m of vertical ascent.

Aaron Ryder, owner of Marvel Fitness in Kingsbridge, said: "The current national statistics show one in four women and one in six or seven men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. The prevalence of domestic abuse in Torbay is higher than in similar areas (Torbay Council 2025).

"This is a current problem which seems to affect all areas of society, which is why we as a team hope to gain your support to show both our recognition and gratitude to The Patchwork House by Finding Our Freedom with Every Step in order for others to be able to find theirs.

"This collaboration is between South Hams Trek Challenges and Marvel Fitness, as a group of individuals enjoy challenges, they have previously completed a variety of events between them raising both awareness and funds.

"The idea to complete the national Three Peaks Challenge is to demonstrate how when we work together we can overcome even the biggest of obstacles (including mountains)."

The team have decided to raise funds on behalf of The Patchwork House Torquay who work tirelessly with buckets of compassion, kindness and care  to support individuals fleeing and affected by domestic abuse.

This will provide them with much needed funds to be able to assist in education, wellbeing, counselling and the ability to continue to support housing and personal needs of all families they work with.
