19 South Hams businesses are named as finalists in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2022

Four SouthHams.com members are among the 19 local businesses that have been named as finalists in the Muddy Stiletto Awards. 

Wifflepigs Colourful Clothing is a finalist in the ‘Best Children’s Business’ category.

A producer of handmade leggings, hoodies, dresses and accessories for children from a dining room table in Bickerton, near Hallsands, Wifflepigs is a Let Clothes Be Clothes approved retailer meaning their clothes are suitable for both boys and girls, without gender bias.

Jenni Dos, owner and founder, said: “I can't believe I have made the final! To be in line with some fabulous businesses when I work from my dining table around my children is somewhat surreal. I am so grateful to each of my customers that have taken time to vote for me. 

“If I am not successful, I am so proud to have showcased that colourful clothing is for all children.”

The Cricket Inn, Beesands, is a finalist in the ‘Best Destination Pub’ category. 

A pub situated on the Blue Flag awarded mile-long shingle beach on the South West Coast Path, The Cricket Inn has newly refurbished rooms and a focus on local and seasonal food. 

Charlotte Burdett, marketing manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist in the Destination Pub category for the much-coveted Muddy Stilettos awards. To be recognised and nominated by our customers is a true affirmation of all of the hard work and effort our brilliant team puts in on a daily basis. 

“We are in a tough category; Devon is renowned for serving outstanding food and drink thanks to its excellent local produce and producers, and for being home to some of the best restaurants in the UK. 

“We were a proud finalist in the category in 2021 and I speak on behalf of the team when I say to win in 2022 would mean the absolute world."

Jolanta Radko, J-Active, is a finalist in the ‘Best Fitness Instructor’ category. 

A fitness instructor in Loddiswell, J-Active wants to change your perspective of exercise from that daily morning chore or late even burden to something that you look forward to each day. Their enthusiasm and positivity combined with knowledge will enhance your experience as well as rocketing your fitness levels. 

Jolanta, known as J, said: “When Jordan and I started J-Active in Devon, we wanted to give our best knowledge and experience to help, to support and to make everyone believe in themselves.

“We started from nothing, trying to build a place that people could come to and find a way to improve, physically and mentally.

“Just over two years later, J-Active has become a healthy social life for so many local people. People who thrive for a better life, people who want to be healthier and happier. 

“Making it to the Finals showed us that what we do, helps others to better lives in different aspects. We promise to continue doing our best in the South Hams.

The Bear and Blacksmith, Chillington, is a finalist in the 'Best Destination Pub' category.
