With their own farm just 3 miles from the pub and a vegetable patch which backs onto the beer garden, the pub grows many of the vegetables and salads that appear on the menu as well as rearing their own sheep, pigs and poultry. Beef is reared predominantly on a farm just down the road in the same village & also on surrounding farms within a 10 mile radius.
Fresh fish and shellfish also feature strongly on the menu and arrives from local dayboats operating out of Salcombe, Dartmouth and Start Bay supplied by Rex Down & Britannia Shellfish
Lunch and dinner menus feature a range of modern British pub classics while the Specials menu - which changes daily reflecting what is brought to the kitchen door - showcases a selection of more complex, innovative dishes. Sunday lunch features a choice of three exceptional roast meats served with all the trimmings.
The Bear & Blacksmith has its own butchery based in East Allington supplying all the meat for the pub which is either reared on their own farm or sourced locally from other farms within a 10 mile radius.
