A modern take on a traditional pub, The Church House Inn is the place for great food and live music

Situated close to the coast at Torcross and Slapton, The Church House Inn in Stokenham is a modern take on a traditional pub with a focus on good pub food, excellent and popular Sunday Roasts and monthly events to bring the community together.

The Church House Inn at Stokenham is the sister hotel to the Cricket Inn at Beesands, and both are refurbished to a very high standard. The Church House Inn has four bed and breakfast rooms with all the modern amenities including Nespresso machines, walk-in showers and incredibly comfortable King-size beds.

The Church House Inn is busy and full of life with monthly events, theme nights, live music and pub quizzes. Their last two big events, Oktoberfest and a Halloween Party were incredibly popular and they have also recently hosted a very successful Vietnamese night.

The team are looking forward to a busy December, hosting Christmas parties, two wreath-making workshops, a Christmas Fayre on Saturday, 17 December, and then in January, they will be hosting a Burn’s Night.

Under the watchful eye of their Head Chef and their owner, The Church House Inn specialises in pub classics. With a strong focus on local producers and local suppliers, the kitchen produces stunning and delicious meals that focus on traditional, hearty, food cooked exceptionally well.

They are proud of their state-of-the-art Josper Charcoal Grill which smokes and grills simultaneously, allowing them to cook juicy steaks, fish, vegetables, and other dishes on coals indoors. They also have a new garden marquee to increase the outside space and allow exciting events to happen all year round.

Scott and Rachael Heath, owners, said: “The end of 2022 marks the end of our official first full year of being open, and what a year it has been. Despite many challenges since we first took over the lease a couple of years ago, we have focused our attention on both seasonally changing menus which incorporate local ingredients and produce, as well as regular events such as our Easter celebration, Jubilee celebration and Cuban garden party.

"We would like to thank all of our regulars for their continued support throughout the year, and also thank you to all the new guests we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. We look forward to welcoming many of you back next year, whether it’s to stay, eat or even pop in for a pint as you’re passing!”

With a focus on the community and with the proximity to the neighbouring village church, they are also experienced hosts for formal events such as wakes & christenings.

Follow The Church House Inn at Stokenham on their social media accounts to keep up-to-date with their events and live music dates, or head to the events section of their website.
