Barclays closed its branch in Kingsbridge six months ago and now its van will stop visiting the town.

Kingsbridge Town Council announced that they had been informed that the Barclays van will " no longer attend the car park at Quay House".

The spokesperson for the council said: "Barclays is now in the Watermark in Ivybridge on alternate Thursdays.

"The bank continues to explore the possibility of bringing a monthly or fortnightly Barclays flex offering back to Kingsbridge at some point in the future."

Many people have pointed out that the problem with relying on the bank in Ivybridge is that there is no public transport between Kingsbridge and Ivybridge.

A spokesperson for Barclays, said: “Following the Kingsbridge branch closure we committed to supporting customers with a face to face service for six months by deploying the Barclays Van.

"Whilst this commitment has now expired, we are actively seeking an alternative offering for customers who wish to continue to have an in-person banking presence in Kingsbridge, albeit in a different environment.

“We will share details of the location and timings with our customers as soon as we can.”
