Family business can supply all your windows and doors, with a friendly, no-pressure service

A family business from Hereford has branched out to Kingsbridge, providing bespoke windows and doors with a no-pressure service to the people of the South Hams.

Advance Building Plastics has grown organically out of Hereford-based Advance Joinery. Marketing Director Lisa Buchanan explained that their company has been providing bespoke joinery to homeowners and joiners for more than 30 years.

“We create made-to-measure windows and doors”, Lisa explained, “and we started noticing a real increase in the market for UPVC and aluminium so we decided we could provide the same personal and individual service that we have been providing our joinery customers for decades, and relate that to a new product.

“Our history in joinery means we understand the ‘whole house’ and have been involved in projects with cottages, churches and castles, we can do anything. Because we have a strong background in the industry, we also have strong buying-power, meaning we can get excellent prices that others just can’t get!

“With the stunning views in the South Hams, we have seen a number of clients request large curtain walls that look out to sea or over the rolling countryside, they’re really impressive”

Advance Building Plastics work with both individual homeowners and those in the trade, meaning that they can both supply and fit - or just supply - windows and doors to a schedule and to a deadline.

Advance Building Plastics also offers a completely free measuring and quotation service, to both suppliers and the public, meaning you know that not only are you getting the best service, you won’t be pressured or strong-armed into giving them your business.

“We are a family business”, explained Lisa, whose husband Andrew is the Managing Director, “we are very precious about our reputation and we are very anti-the hard sell. None of our staff work on commission and we are the opposite of some of the big companies who just want your signature on the bottom line.

“We want to look after our customers, we don’t want them to buy something they don’t want or understand.”

This is why the new showroom in Kingsbridge, which Advance Building Plastics opened just before lockdown, is so important when you want to order your windows and doors. You can touch the materials, get a feel for how a mechanism opens and closes, see the sight lines for yourself and really get the product demonstrated for you before you buy.

Lisa explained that the family, and therefore the business, has had a connection with the South Hams for a long time, and have employed local people as showroom workers and fitters (although they are looking for more fitters if you’re on the lookout for a new job!)

“We have the connection, we know the people in Kingsbridge and we want our name talked about. We have always had a personal approach to business, the company is our baby. It’s our life.

“At Advance Building Plastics, we are continuing to provide that same excellent, approachable, personal service that we have been giving our customers for the last 30 years and bringing our experience and our passion to the South Hams.

“We hope to see you soon!”
