Kingsbridge In Bloom welcomed judges this morning

Kingsbridge In Bloom welcomed the South West In Bloom judges, giving them their chance to show off all their hard work. 

Kingsbridge In Bloom, which is made up of volunteers from across the community, have spent the last year planting, weeding, watering and pruning to get the town looking its very best for the judges on Wednesday morning.

This year is the 60th anniversary Britain in Bloom, and in Kingsbridge is focussing on the 200th anniversary of the creation of the RNLI, with main displays on the town square.

The sun generously showed its face for the day, meaning the judges, John Yeo and Bob Sweet, got to see the best side of the town. 

Before starting their tour, John and Bob were welcomed by Roger Pinder, Kingsbridge's award winning town crier, with a traditional cry on the town square. 

Judge John Yeo called the welcome "lovely" and said it was a "lovely presentation" before their tour, and said he will be looking for "cleanliness", "wonderful displays" and a "good mixture of plants".

His colleague Bob Sweet said he was specifically looking for "a community that pulls together, great community effort and people who have real pride in their town".  

The judges will be giving marks for Horticulture (40%), Environment (30%) and Community (30%).
