Hare Spring Cottage Plants has won GOLD at the Chelsea Flower Show

Two Kingsbridge-based businesses, Hare Spring Cottage Plants and A Little Bit Crafty have come together to create a gold-winning garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Hare Spring Cottage Plants, owned by Stella Exley, created a garden that brought a little bit of Devon to London during the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and has been rewarded with a Gold prize for her efforts. 

Hare Spring Cottage Plants' garden also featured a crocheted cream tea spread created by A Little Bit Crafty's Sue Brooks, alongside a bank of Devon wildflowers and Stella's own Morris Minor 'Rose'.

Stella, who won a Gold prize last year at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, told the BBC she wanted to "create a vintage picnic area in the South Hams, so I've got a nod to a Devon bank with all the wildflowers".

Exley said the planning for her display had taken 18 months and she started growing the flowers for it back in September and October.

Stella took this great video of the whole display to thank Sue for her hard work to help her win Gold: 

She added: "But I am just so happy with it and I know it is the best one I've ever done and I'm very proud of it."

Sue said: "What an honour it is to be part of Hare Spring Cottage Plants display! Well done Stella for winning GOLD ..I loved every minute crocheting the Vintage Tea Party, Blanket, cushion cover and of course the bunny and bear for you."

The pair's incredible hard work and creativity also made it on to the TV, featuring on BBC Spotlight's lunchtime news on Tuesday, 19 May.
