It’s always a bit risky moving premises. Especially when you run one of the longest established family businesses in town. Moyseys Interiors has been a solid presence in Kingsbridge town centre since, well, forever, so it was with some trepidation that Alice and Roger Honeywill took the plunge and moved to Lower Union Road in the new year. ‘And you know what? It’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made!’ declares Roger.

Their January sale was a huge success, appealing to existing customers and bringing in many new ones, too. Word has spread fast and there has been no shortage of delighted customers taking advantage of the free on-site parking and taking a leisurely look around the new light and spacious show rooms. ‘We really needed more display space and it’s been an enormous bonus that our customers no longer have to fight for parking on Fore Street,’ Alice adds. A factor which is especially welcome when collecting and dropping off samples.

It was a real delight to browse amongst the soft furnishing samples downstairs where Alice, Claire and the team have been careful to allow for both traditional tastes and the ever-growing trend towards textured fabrics, greys and geometric designs. The sumptuous fabrics and papers on display are supplemented by a constantly changing array of lighting and accessories to really fire your imagination.

The flooring department on the first floor has seen some of the biggest changes. Roger now has the space to extend ranges and stock larger samples to give customers a much clearer picture of the end result. ‘We have seen a real upswing in demand for high-quality moth and stain resistant man made carpeting which has the advantage of being easy-clean and considerably cheaper than wool,’ he says.

Moyseys is also the local stockist for a superb range of natural wood flooring manufactured and supplied by a family firm based in Wales. ‘They smoke and flail or saw the wood in-house to give it its aged look – it’s simply a great product!’ Roger adds.

Karndean, a durable and versatile luxury vinyl flooring which is available in a huge variety of wood and stone effect finishes, remains immensely popular. ‘The big advantage we have over internet suppliers is that we offer an all-in-one flooring solution,’ Roger explains. ‘Some of our fitters have been with us for nearly 40 years and we continually update their training as new products come out.’

So, if you are looking to replace worn carpets or dated window dressings, or if you have a complete home make-over in mind, make Moyseys your first stop – you can be sure of the very best in choice, experience and expertise under one roof. Moyseys is open Monday to Saturday, you can ring them for further information on 01548 852168.
