Fire crews called to fire after a van collided with a cow

Buckfastleigh Fire Station crew was called to a small vehicle fire on the A38 at Ashburton. 

Buckfastleigh Fire Crew and Ashburton Fire Crew were called on Saturday night, 14 October, to "reports of a small vehicle fire on the A38 at Ashburton".

A spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Crew said: "En route we were provided with further details stating this was a van vs cow RTC (Road Traffic Collision).

"On arrival crews made the scene safe by providing fend offs to close the road whilst we got to work making the vehicle safe.

"Fortunately the occupants got away relatively unscathed and were left in the care of our ambulance colleagues. 

"The cow was left in the care of a local farmer and veterinary services after being removed from the carriageway using farm machinery."
