Following the devastating fire in Stokenham last night, a JustGiving page has been set up to support those who lost their homes and livelihoods.

Aaron Ryder, owner of Marvel Fitness in Kingsbridge, has set up the page and is planning to complete a  24 hour cycle, row and walk to raise as much money for the families as possible on Wednesday night.

The page originally aimed to raise £1,000 but that target was smashed in just a few hours.

The fundraising comes on the back of news that the Tradesman’s Arms pub in Stokenham was completely destroyed by fire last night (Sunday to Monday, 26 to 27 September) along with four neighbouring residential properties.

Apart from “minor smoke inhalation” there were no reports of any injuries.

Aaron said: “Following the devastating fire in Stokenham last night and the loss of the Tradesman Arms and numerous family homes, Team Marvel want to offer whatever support they can.

“Wednesday night we will be undertaking a 24 hour cycle, row and walk to raise as much money for the families as possible. Please donate whatever you can and help your local community to get back on their feet.

“If you are interested in coming down during opening hours and supporting us, you are more than welcome.

“Please click the link and donate whatever you can. Thank you from everyone at Team Marvel.”
