Join the Heart of Community Life – On and Off the Water
At Salcombe Yacht Club, we’re proud to be much more than a sailing club. We’re a welcoming, lively community where friendships are made, skills are shared, and there’s always something to look forward to — whether you’re afloat or firmly on dry land.
With over 1000 members SYC is one of the most premier and active Sailing Clubs in the South West. Our Sailing Programme runs from the beginning of March to the end of December each year.
Sailing & Racing
From relaxed club sailing to competitive racing and flagship regattas, our waters are alive with activity throughout the season. Sailors of all abilities are encouraged, supported, and made to feel at home.
It is said that Merlin Rocket Week is the jewel in the Yacht Clubs crown, attracting 120 teams from across the country and placing the town at the centre of the sailing worlds attentions for one week in July.
The Salcombe Town Regatta and Salcombe Yacht Club summer Regattas are hugely popular and are the highlights of the Salcombe Calendar year.
RYA Training Centre
As an accredited RYA Training Centre, we run a wide range of courses throughout the year for adults and juniors alike. Whether you’re learning to sail for the first time, building confidence, or progressing your qualifications, our friendly, experienced instructors are here to help you every step of the way.
Model Yacht Racing
A hugely popular activity offering friendly competition, technical skill and plenty of laughs — perfect for all ages and a great way to stay connected to sailing year-round.

A Clubhouse with a View
Enjoy one of the finest settings in Salcombe. Whether it’s post-sail drinks, a relaxed lunch, or simply watching the boats go by, the clubhouse is where our community truly comes together. Our professional Franchised Chef, Adam Holden, produces a delicious Bar Menu, Sunday Lunch Menu (Open to no-members too!) and a Cadet Menu for those with smaller appetites.
Have you got a special occasion coming up? - Adam can cater for all your needs, from cold/hot buffet, including BBQ and Pizza options, to a formal 3-course meal.

Great elevated location with views over estuary. If weather is good, there is usually seating on the terrace. We dropped in for lunch and were very happy with the food choices on offer. The staff were very helpful. Drinks / food was reasonably priced, helped by having a yacht club member in our group which gave us a 10% discount.
