Mothecombe Beach
Mothecombe beach on the Flete Estate near Holbeton is now open to the public everyday. Privately owned and maintained by the estate, Mothecombe is known locally as the perfect beach.
With lovely golden sand and shallow waters it's great for swimming and is also sheltered so lovely for sunbathing too! The conditions are really good here for novice windsurfers or body boarders.

Look out for
The old seawater swimming pool that was built around 1875 but the Home Guard blew a hole in the wall during the second world war so is no longer used.
'Bugle Hole' which is great fun at high tide.
It's a fact !
This was a trading post during the Roman Occupation, North African traders exchanged wine and oil for tin.
The opening scenes of International Velvet (1978) were filmed on these sands. The 1996 version of Rebecca was also filmed here.
