OUR COWS

Surfing Cow Ice Cream is made from our own high quality milk produced by our special cows. We make all the ice cream in our ice cream parlour, less than 100 metres down the road from the milking parlour at South Battisborough Farm, and within a few metres of the fields they graze in, overlooking Mothecombe beach.

Sun-bathed and with a sea view – our cows are spoilt, and they all seem pretty happy with their surroundings!

OUR FARM

All our ice cream is made on-farm at South Battisborough.

South Battisborough Farm is just 600 metres from the sea. The farm runs down to the River Erme on one boundary, with Mothecombe beach and the sea on another. It is part of the beautiful Flete Estate, with Holbeton village at the far end. The climate here is temperate so we rarely have frosts, this means the grass grows 99 per cent of the year!

THE A-MAIZE-ING MAZE

An afternoon out for all ages. You'll find us on the road to Mothecombe beach, just follow our surfboard signs and you may be lucky enough to see the girls crossing the road to head to the milking parlour for afternoon milking. At the end of the road you'll find our shop, where you can buy your perfect scoop (or two...or three) of our delicious gelato to enjoy in our huge garden, which overlooks the sea and has plenty of benches and space for picnics (we think it's quite spectacular!)

The maze will be open every day of the summer holidays. See if you can beat farmer Lawrence and find the centre, or will you get stuck at a dead end! At the end of the summer the maize is chopped up in to cow food to keep the girls going during the winter months. The Maize Maze closes at the end of the school summer holidays.

ENVIRONMENT

Doing our bit, one tub at a time.

We are pleased to say that all of our 120ml and 500ml tubs are 100% biodegradable and compostable! 

As a small business we think it's important to do our bit for the environment and to help our customers be more environmentally friendly when they buy our ice cream.

All of our 120ml & 500ml tubs are made from paper and the individual 120ml sizes come complete with a wooden spoon in the lids. When we deliver to our customers, we always re-use cardboard boxes and use paper parcel tape. Our 1L & 4L tubs are still plastic, as currently the UK market doesn't supply paper tubs this size, but they are fully recyclable!
