Stiltskin’s Soapbox Children’s Theatre is Devon’s award winning independent children’s theatre, based in Plymouth. We are one of only a handful of theatres in Britain that specializes in producing theatre and cultural events for children.
As storytellers we develop pieces of theatre from well-known stories and write and produce new work. We write, design and perform all of our own material. We weave together theatre and storytelling, captivating the imaginations of children and their families from 0-15 yrs.
The Soapbox Children’s Theatre is a theatre and arts venue, based in 33 acres of beautiful parkland in Devonport Park, Plymouth. We have three performance areas, which includes our child friendly indoor theatre auditorium and our two outdoor theatre spaces – The Spellbound Storytelling Wood, and the Soapbox Amphitheatre.
We specialise in making theatre and stories for babies, children, young people and their families. We bind stories together for everyone’s delight, entertainment and education, writing and producing our own work, retelling well-known stories – often with a twist, or animating Plymouth’s heritage – bringing to life characters and events from the city and surrounding area.
We programme in touring companies to create a diverse programme of events, offering many different forms of performance for everyone to enjoy.
Imagine a place where you and your children can be lost in a story that is brought to life with charismatic characters, extraordinary puppets and creative settings. A new story that you have never heard before…who knows what will happen next, where the character will come from and how the tale will end. Or a well-known story that has been re-written to engage with our modern world.
How about a story that brings fantasy and fact together, and connects us with the world around us, or that opens up the incredible world of Shakespeare for young minds.
